The First Lady of Greater Church of God by Faith in Jacksonville, Florida, is Phyllis Michelle Matthews. Born to George and Jennie Watts; Phyllis is a native of Gainesville, Florida, the fifth child of nine siblings. Married 36 years to Pastor Cedric D. Matthews, Sr., she faithfully supports his ministerial assignments in several roles within their church’s ministry, including the Worship Ministry, and Women’s Ministry President for the past 28 years. Phyllis also served as a teacher and vice president for her denomination’s District Pastor’s and Ministers wives. Her ministry duties over the years consisted of Sunday school teacher, Tuesday night Children’s church helper, Secretary, Chaplin. In addition, she served as an usher for three years after her husband became Senior pastor of Greater Church.  Devoted to the development and maturity of Christian women, Lady Phyllis, established a mentorship ministry in 2007.

Phyllis is not only a pastor's wife, but she is also an author and a composer. Mrs. Matthews absolutely loves being married and is the very proud mother of two sons, Chief Cedric II and Master Cephas. Yet, she finds joy in helping people grow and excel in their relationship with God.  As she carries out her God-given assignments, Phyllis is always encouraged by her favorite scripture; “That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death.” Philippians 3:10.
