The First Lady of the Greater Church of God by Faith in Jacksonville, Florida, is Phyllis Michelle Matthews. A native of Gainesville, Florida, Phyllis was born to George and Jennie Watts, the fifth of nine siblings. She has been married for 39 years to Pastor Cedric D. Matthews, Sr., and has played a vital role in supporting his ministerial endeavors. Phyllis has been involved in various capacities within the church, including serving in the Worship Ministry for over two decades and as the President of the Women’s Ministry for more than 30 years. Additionally, she has served as a teacher for pastors' and ministers' wives within her denomination.

Over the years, her ministry responsibilities have included Sunday school teacher, Tuesday night Children’s Church helper, secretary, and chaplain. Following her husband’s appointment as Senior Pastor of Greater Church, she also dedicated three years as an usher. In 2007, Phyllis established a mentoring ministry aimed at nurturing and empowering Christian women.

Beyond her role as a pastor's wife, Phyllis is an accomplished author and composer. She takes great pride in her marriage and is the devoted mother of two sons, Chief Cedric II and Master Cephas. Her passion lies in helping individuals grow and deepen their relationship with God. Phyllis finds inspiration in her favorite scripture: “That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death” (Philippians 3:10).
