The Body of Christ
God instituted the Church, to bring hope, deliverance, stability, discipline, guidance, and rest to a world that is infiltrated with evil. The Church was also established to connect with God through worship, fellowship, prayer, teaching, and singing within a community. The Church of God was not an afterthought. From the foundation of the world, the Church was an integral part of God’s plan for sharing His divine life with all people. Jesus gave birth to the Church through His death on the cross. Ephesians 3:7-11 (NIV), I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power. Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things “His intent was that now, through the Church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to His eternal purpose that He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Our identity in Christ is not determined by what we do, where we work, or who we know. But our identity is predicated upon, what Jesus Christ did on the cross over two thousand years ago. Understanding our identity in Christ determines how we manage life circumstances and relate to them. Accepting our identity in Christ determines how we worship God and ascribe praise to Him. Guarding our identity in Christ determines how we give meaning to relationships and people. Knowing our identity in Christ determines how we respond to pain and hardships. Professing our identity in Christ determines our lifestyles, dictates our behavior, and our obedience to God. Never believe, that knowing our identity in Christ does not make much difference. The reality is this: it determines everything!
Matthew 16:17-19
And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Knowing your identity in Christ gives you a strong foundation to build your life on and opens doors to a successful Christian journey...
